Gun Dog Scurry
We've just added a new feature to Dogs Allowed - a Gun dog Scurry. It is free to any dog and will be available between 11 and 3 each day. The idea is that the dog has to retrieve two marked (seen) dummies. The dummy thrower attracts the dogs attention and throws each dummy into a prescribed area. The dog is sent and has to bring one of the dummies back to the handler who is waiting within a designated area i.e. behind a line, before repeating the process for the second dummy. It is a fun scurry, but it will be timed and there will be a prize for the best time each day. So bring your dog to have some fun, and watch other dogs trying to do the same thing.
Dog Agility - come and try
The generous folk from NESSR have agreed to bring their equipment so that any dog can have a go at Dog Agility. Northern English Springer Spaniel Rescue (NESSR) is a specialist non-profit making breed rescue that has been running for over 30 years and is a kennel club registered rescue who primarily rescue and rehome discarded, unwanted and neglected English Springer Spaniels. It is an unfortunate fact of life that whilst arguably among the most cuddly of puppies, some young Springers find their welcome disappears as fast as their youth.
Due to popular demand we will be having more races, and maybe even heats, depending on time. Any dog can take part, and even those who don't seem to know what they should be doing. If you haven't watched terrier racing before, make a point of checking when it's on in the programme and come and be amused, be very amused. This year, due to popular demand, we are dividing the races into heats by dog size.
Sprint racing with your dog
This will be in the competition ring, twice each day. Lauder Limpers will be donating a prize. Sprinting with your dog can be a very good way to increase your dog's fitness, and as they become more fit, it can also help you stay committed to your own personal exercise program. Even if you're not interested in the fitness aspect just come along and enjoy the time together. Don't forget, Dogs Allowed runs for two days so there's no need for a couple to fight over who gets the dog. You can both have a shot. See the programme for start times.
The food marquee will also house a fully licenced bar and a range of non alcoholic drinks. Sit in comfort, under shelter, and watch the fun in the competition ring.
Army Assault Course
Have a go, and see how agile you are. It's good fun, even if you may struggle to get over it.
